About Me And My Day Care:
My name is Yvonne, my family has lived in our home in Lowell since 1993. My husband and I raised 4 children that are now grown. I have always worked with children and families from the time I was 18. My reason for doing day care is simple, I love kids. I used to teach preschool and decided to welcome kids into my home as I raised my own children. Once my own kids were in school full time it never occurred to me to work outside of the house. I love my job and could not imagine having an empty house. As far as my philosophy, I would say it is to make every child feel welcome and wanted every day and to work together with parents in a mutual goal of wanting what is best for the kids.
My Qualifications:
License # 2082951,
C.P.R and First Aid Certified,
EEC Lead Teacher Certified in all three categories: Infant, Toddler & Preschool,
Child Development Associates Credential,
Director Two certification,
Trained in nutrition and a USDA food program participant,
I have also earned many certificates in various areas of child development but my most valuable training comes from being a Mom and years of day care hands-on experience.
Type Of Care Offered:
Full time care, 5 days a week.
Part time care, 1-4 days
Summer care,
School year calendar for teachers.
Learning Time:
Although we are learning life lessons all day long we do set aside a little special time to spend on group activities. All kids are included regardless of age or ability. I use a theme based curriculum designed to expose your child to the world around us. Many topics are explored through a variety of books, dramatic play, craft materials, songs and finger plays. Basics are introduced in a fun way such as colors, shapes, numbers, letters, cutting, and tracing. We also do a variety of hands on games and activities that coordinate with our monthly theme. Each lesson is adjusted to your childs age and ability, as your child grows so does the challenge of their lesson. I feel it is important to sit with the children and give them my undivided attention and let them know that our time together is important to me. I believe the finished product of arts and crafts are not as important as the process in making them. I encourage creativity but there are times when we will use just red in order to learn the color red etc. Group activity time lasts as long as the children want it to depending on how we all feel that day. I am careful to make sure learning is fun not forced and our special time together is always a happy time. See our Daily Adventures Page for more info. Progress reports are given twice a year so that you can see how well your child is learning and growing in our program.
Keep in mind that daily routines of saying hello and goodbye, preparing and eating food, napping, diapering, toileting, brushing our teeth and dressing occupy a significant part of a young childs day. Routines are themselves learning opportunities, rather than events to be "gotten through" free play is also a very important learning time. Your child is probably learning the most when you least expect it.
Meals:
Meals and snacks are included. I am a proud member of the food program Yours for Children Inc.
Sample Menu:
Breakfast: cereal, banana, milk
Lunch: chicken, carrots, pears, noodles, milk
PM Snack: crackers w/cheese, milk
Water is offered between meals.
We wash & brush our teeth after lunch every day.
Infant Care:
I take special care of our babies, I make sure there are safe areas for belly time on the floor lots of toys and clean beds for napping. Each baby has their own crib, bottles and place to store their belongings. Babies are fed and cared for on demand but I will work with you to keep the babies home and day care schedule as consistent as possible. Although the babies are not old enough to participate in our nursery school / preschool activities they are exposed to all of the activity around them and learn so much from the other children. I feel that tickles, hugs and smiles are as important as food to an infant so if I am spoiling your baby make sure you let me know.
Interview Process:
Early evening interviews work best so that I can visit with you and your child and answer all of your questions. A second interview is not required but if you want to come back for a visit it can be while day care is open so that you may see how the other children and I interact with each other and introduce your child to his or her new friends.
Holding Your Spot:
Your first week of daycare must be paid in full before I will consider the spot taken.
This payment is your first week payment, I do not charge a deposit or registration fee. The payment is non-refundable if you decide not to bring your child.
