Preschool Program
Truly Learning Through Play:
I believe children learn naturally when given developmentally appropriate activities to choose from. Preschool activities are set up in our class room for the children to “play with” through out the day as long and as often as they wish to use them. Each week the children will find a new puzzle, a new book, a writing center that includes personalized journals for daily journal entries, a chalk board, magnetic numbers and letters, practice work sheets and a newly set up *Tray Task waiting for them to master. The children will participate in group activities such as learning games designed to promote letter, number, shape, color recognition and word association. Special themes such as camping day for example are fun for all and a great way to experience something new. Extra materials are added for child led creative exploration and also for completing occasional teacher directed projects. Extra materials will include but not limited to: Paint, Crayons, Glue, Cooking items, Scissors, Play dough, Dabbers, Stencils, Sponges, Rollers, Stamps, Cookie cutters and much more. Preschool teaches kids to be independent, to share, and to follow directions -- crucial skills for kindergarten. Children that leave my program are ready for kindergarten.
